The droplets continue to grow as more water vapor condenses around them.These clouds continue to grow and develop as the condensation process continues in the cool upper atmosphere.As water droplets in clouds continue to grow and combine, they eventually become too heavy to remain suspended in the air.The type of precipitation that forms depends on the temperature of the air the water falls through.In warm conditions above freezing, the water falls as rain.When temperatures are below freezing, the water droplets crystallize into snowflakes.During storms, water droplets can be carried up and down through freezing air multiple times, forming hail.Once the water reaches Earth's surface, it follows different paths.Some water seeps down through the soil into underground aquifers as groundwater.Other water flows across the surface as runoff, eventually reaching streams, rivers, and oceans.This water will eventually return to the atmosphere through evaporation, continuing the endless cycle that has been occurring for billions of years.
