You'll need at least an 8 gigabyte USB drive.In Rufus, select your USB device, choose the Kali Linux ISO file, and use GPT partition scheme for UEFI systems.You'll need to free up at least 30 gigabytes of disk space for Kali Linux.Use Windows Disk Management to shrink your existing partition, creating unallocated space for Kali.Finally, we need to modify some BIOS settings. Access your BIOS by pressing the appropriate key during startup.Disable both Fast Startup and Secure Boot to ensure compatibility with Kali Linux.Save your BIOS settings and prepare to move on to the partitioning phase.To begin partitioning your drive for Kali Linux, open Windows Disk Management.Right-click on your Windows partition and select 'Shrink Volume' from the context menu.In the Shrink Volume dialog, you'll see the available space that can be freed. English is recommended for most users.Choose your location to set the correct time zone and regional settings.Configure your keyboard layout based on your physical keyboard.When you reach the partition section, select 'Install alongside Windows Boot Manager' for automatic partitioning.The installer will create the necessary partitions in the free space we created earlier. Here's how the partitions will be organized.For optimal performance, we recommend allocating twenty gigabytes for root, four gigabytes for swap, and the remaining space for your home partition.During the Kali Linux installation, we'll now configure the GRUB bootloader.GRUB will be installed to the Master Boot Record, or MBR, which is the first sector of your hard drive.The MBR contains the initial bootloader code that starts your computer and presents the operating system selection menu.After installation, GRUB will present a menu allowing you to choose between Kali Linux and Windows.The menu will automatically detect both operating systems, with Kali Linux typically set as the default option.Before completing the installation, you'll need to set up your user credentials for Kali Linux.Choose a strong username and password combination. These credentials will be used for system administration tasks.Let's review the key steps in configuring the bootloader.First, GRUB is installed to the MBR, ensuring it can start before any operating system.Next, the boot menu is configured to recognize both operating systems.Finally, we verify that both Windows and Kali are properly detected and can be booted.The installation process will automatically handle most of the configuration, making it straightforward to set up.Once GRUB is configured, you'll be ready to move on to the final setup steps.After installation, you'll see the GRUB boot menu when starting your computer.Use the arrow keys to select your operating system. Kali Linux is typically the default option.Once in Kali Linux, configure your network settings. You can connect via WiFi or Ethernet.Update both operating systems to their latest versions. In Kali, use apt update and apt upgrade commands.Don't forget to also update Windows through Windows Update.Check if all hardware is properly recognized in Kali Linux. Install any missing drivers as needed.You can customize GRUB settings by editing the configuration file.
