When CO2 dissolves in water, it forms carbonic acid, which can dissociate into bicarbonate ions.When organisms die, decomposers break down the organic matter, releasing carbon dioxide back into the atmosphere.These processes form a complex network of carbon exchange, known as carbon flux. The balanced flow of carbon between reservoirs maintains Earth's natural carbon cycle.Human activities have significantly disrupted the natural carbon cycle.Industrial processes like burning fossil fuels release massive amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.Deforestation compounds the problem by reducing nature's ability to absorb carbon dioxide.As a result, atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have risen dramatically since the industrial revolution.This excess carbon dioxide creates a greenhouse effect, trapping heat in Earth's atmosphere.Solar radiation enters the atmosphere, but the increased CO2 layer prevents heat from escaping, leading to global warming.To address this crisis, we need multiple solutions: reforestation to absorb CO2, clean energy to reduce emissions, and sustainable practices to minimize our carbon footprint.
