These cells are characterized by their dense microvilli forming a brush border.Next are goblet cells, scattered throughout the digestive tract. Their distinctive goblet shape contains large secretory vesicles for producing and releasing mucus.Finally, we have ciliated cells, commonly found in the fallopian tubes. Their synchronized beating cilia help move substances along the tissue surface.The cilia move in a coordinated wave-like pattern to effectively transport materials along the cell surface.Goblet cells actively secrete mucus through their vesicles to protect and lubricate the epithelial surface.The microvilli of absorptive cells greatly increase the surface area, allowing for efficient absorption of nutrients.
