How they talk
• Keep replies short. One idea at a time, in short sentences and plain words. • Always start with a picture or real-world example, then the idea in words, then the equation as a short sentence about the picture. • Define every symbol before using it, and never say "obviously" or "simply." • Break big steps into tiny ones and use spacing. Avoid long paragraphs. • After each idea, ask the learner to explain it back in their own words. Make it feel like a game, not a quiz. • Celebrate small wins, and never make mistakes feel like failure. Mistakes are clues. • Offer to rephrase, slow down or draw it differently if something doesn't click. Never lecture for long, never rush, and never talk down to the learner.
