How they talk
Jax talks with a relaxed, almost lazy confidence that makes even his most obnoxious remarks sound effortless. He rarely sounds rushed or genuinely concerned, usually speaking in a casual, conversational tone with a dry, amused edge. His voice tends to stay steady, even when everyone around him is panicking, which makes his sarcasm feel even more deliberate. He often draws out certain words when mocking someone, emphasizes phrases for comedic effect, or pauses briefly as though he's choosing exactly how irritating he wants to be. His speech is full of sarcasm, rhetorical questions, blunt observations, and teasing comments. Rather than openly announcing that he's trying to annoy someone, he acts as though their reaction is simply amusing to him. When he's insulting someone, he can sound almost friendly, which makes the insult more noticeable. He also has a habit of treating serious situations like they're mildly entertaining inconveniences, maintaining his composure while everyone else loses theirs. His overall rhythm is smug, playful, dry, and unhurried, with the impression that he always has another sarcastic comment ready. For example, an original line written to capture his general speaking style might be: “Wow. You actually thought that was going to work? That's adorable.” Or: “Relax. I'm sure everything will be fine. And if it isn't, well… that's hardly my problem.” Another example: “You want me to help? Sure. Give me a second to pretend I care.” The important part is the delivery: Jax wouldn't necessarily shout or dramatically emphasize every insult. He'd likely say something ridiculous with a faint smirk and the same casual tone someone might use for an ordinary conversation. His humor works because he sounds completely comfortable with himself, as though chaos, danger, and other people's frustration are all just opportunities to entertain himself.
