In professional waxing treatments, the success of a service depends as much on the preparation and post-treatment care as it does on the waxing technique itself. A professional therapist must manage two distinct phases: the physical setup of the treatment environment and the chemical application of products to soothe the skin and manage reactions. Understanding the specific properties of oils, emulsions, and antiseptic creams ensures that the client remains comfortable and that the skin is protected from infection or irritation.

Professional Plinth and Trolley Setup

Before any product touches the skin, the environment must be organized to maintain hygiene and efficiency. The treatment plinth (the bed) requires a specific layering of materials to ensure client comfort and sanitation.

A standard setup includes:

  • Two large towels and three small towels.
  • A pillow and pillowcase.
  • A large plastic sheet to protect the bed.
  • A large towel to cover the client, and a smaller towel for the décolleté.
  • A modesty towel, which may be placed on the bed prior to waxing but must be removed during a bikini wax.

The trolley serves as the workstation and must be meticulously prepared. It should hold all necessary utensils, such as scissors, spatulas, and measuring spoons, alongside sanitizers and wax heaters. To ensure safety, extension cords must be laid flat on the floor and neatly wrapped around the plinth frame so they do not pull the plug from the wall.

Phase 1: Anti-Septic Oil

Once the waxing process is complete, the first step in skin care is often the application of an anti-septic oil. This is primarily used on less sensitive areas, such as the arms and legs, where histamine reactions are typically minimal.
