Salvation History: A Journey Through the Bible

Welcome to the beginning of God's story - the Creation and Fall.In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth in six days.God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, a perfect paradise where they walked in close relationship with Him.In the garden were two special trees: the Tree of Life, and the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. God commanded them not to eat from the Tree of Knowledge.But the serpent deceived Eve, and both she and Adam ate the forbidden fruit, bringing sin into the world.Their disobedience broke their perfect relationship with God, bringing separation between God and humanity.Yet even in this dark moment, God gave the first promise of salvation in Genesis 3:15, declaring that the offspring of the woman would crush the serpent's head.This sets the stage for God's plan of redemption, which would unfold throughout history.After the fall of humanity, God chose Abraham to begin His plan of redemption.God made a covenant with Abraham, promising to make him the father of many nations.This covenant included three main promises: land, countless descendants, and that through Abraham's lineage, all nations would be blessed - pointing to the future coming of Christ.Abraham's descendants, the Israelites, grew from a family into a great nation while in Egypt.God called Moses through a burning bush to lead His people out of slavery.Through Moses, God performed mighty miracles, including parting the Red Sea, to deliver His people.At Mount Sinai, God established His covenant with Israel through the Law.The Ten Commandments and the Law served as a guide for God's people, but also showed their need for a perfect savior.This covenant with Moses prepared the way for the New Covenant that would come through Christ.After the period of judges, Israel established its monarchy with David as king.David unified the tribes, made Jerusalem his capital, and received God's promise of an eternal kingdom.David's son Solomon led Israel to its golden age, building the Temple and expanding the kingdom.After Solomon's death, the kingdom split into two: Israel in the north and Judah in the south.God sent prophets to call the people back to faithfulness and to prophesy about the coming Messiah.The northern kingdom fell to Assyria in 722 BC, and later Babylon conquered Judah, destroying Jerusalem and the Temple.After seventy years in exile, the Persian king Cyrus allowed the Jews to return and rebuild.The Old Testament prophecies found their fulfillment in Jesus Christ.Jesus's earthly ministry revealed God's nature and power.Through parables, Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God.His miracles demonstrated divine authority over creation.Jesus bridged the Old and New Covenants through His life and teachings.His death and resurrection completed God's plan of salvation.The Day of Pentecost marked the birth of the Church, as the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples.From Jerusalem, the Church spread rapidly throughout the Roman Empire, establishing communities in major cities.The Church continues Christ's mission through proclamation, discipleship, baptism, teaching, and service.Scripture teaches that Christ will return in glory, descending from the heavens.The final judgment will follow, where all deeds will be revealed.God's plan culminates in the new creation, centered on the New Jerusalem, where God will dwell with His people forever.This completes our journey through God's plan of salvation, from creation to new creation.Through Christ and His Church, God continues to work until all things are made new.
