First, convection currents carry warm air upward.The second process is orographic lifting, where mountains force air masses upward, cooling them and forming clouds.Different types of clouds form at various altitudes. High in the atmosphere, we find thin, wispy cirrus clouds.In the middle layers, we see altocumulus clouds, which often appear as a layer of rounded masses.Near the ground, we find stratus clouds, which form a continuous gray layer.When water droplets in clouds become heavy enough, they fall as precipitation in various forms depending on temperature and atmospheric conditions.Once precipitation reaches the Earth's surface, it either infiltrates the ground or flows as surface runoff.Some water infiltrates through soil layers to recharge groundwater aquifers.Surface runoff flows downhill, forming streams and rivers that eventually return water to the oceans.Precipitation distribution varies globally, creating distinct climate zones from tropical to polar regions.This completes our exploration of the water cycle, a continuous process that's essential for life on Earth.
