It has no atmosphere and experiences extreme temperature variations.Venus, often called Earth's twin due to its similar size, has a dense atmosphere that creates an extreme greenhouse effect.Earth, our home planet, is unique with its life-sustaining atmosphere and liquid water oceans.Mars, the red planet, has polar ice caps and evidence suggesting it once had flowing water on its surface.These terrestrial planets orbit the Sun in nearly circular paths, with Mercury completing an orbit in just 88 Earth days, while Mars takes nearly two Earth years.Beyond the asteroid belt, we find the massive outer planets, starting with Jupiter.Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system, with a mass more than twice that of all other planets combined.Its most famous feature is the Great Red Spot, a giant storm that has been raging for at least 400 years.Next comes Saturn, known for its spectacular ring system.The ice giants, Uranus and Neptune, are the most distant planets in our solar system.Their blue-green color comes from methane in their atmospheres, which absorbs red light and reflects blue-green light.These outer planets have unique compositions, with layers of different materials.Unlike the rocky inner planets, they are primarily composed of hydrogen, helium, and various ices, with small rocky cores at their centers.Beyond the planets, our solar system contains vast regions filled with smaller objects.Between Mars and Jupiter lies the asteroid belt, a region containing millions of rocky objects.Far beyond Neptune, we find the Kuiper Belt, a vast region of icy bodies including Pluto.Comets are perhaps the most spectacular of these objects, creating beautiful displays as they approach the Sun.These objects come in various sizes, from tiny meteoroids to dwarf planets like Pluto.While planets follow nearly circular orbits, many of these objects travel in elongated elliptical paths.Together, these countless objects form our cosmic neighborhood, all held in orbit by the Sun's gravitational force.
