UV rays trigger a chemical reaction in skin cells.This converts a compound called 7-dehydrocholesterol into vitamin D3, which is essential for bone health and immune function.The skin contains various types of sensory receptors that help us interact with our environment.Touch receptors detect light contact, pressure receptors respond to stronger forces, and temperature receptors monitor heat and cold.
