In the beginning, humanity enjoyed perfect communion with God.However, sin created an insurmountable barrier between humanity and God.To address this separation, God established the temple system, where His presence dwelt behind a thick veil. The Old Testament system required constant animal sacrifices for temporary atonement of sins. This system had significant limitations: the sacrifices provided only temporary atonement, needed constant repetition, and still maintained a separation from God's presence. This separation highlighted humanity's inability to reach God's perfect standard through their own efforts. This barrier of sin would remain until a perfect sacrifice could be made.Jesus uniquely possessed both divine and human natures, making Him the perfect sacrifice. These two natures were perfectly united in one person, without confusion or separation.Throughout His life on earth, Jesus lived in perfect obedience to God's law, never committing a single sin. This sinless life qualified Him to become the perfect sacrifice for humanity's sins. His sacrifice provided permanent atonement for all sins - past, present, and future.Unlike temporary animal sacrifices, Jesus' death provided complete and eternal forgiveness. At the moment of Jesus' death, a profound miracle occurred in the temple. The temple veil, which had separated people from God's presence, was torn in two from top to bottom. This supernatural event symbolized the new direct access to God, made possible through Jesus' sacrifice.Through faith in Jesus' sacrifice, believers now have direct access to God.We can now approach God confidently as His children, not as distant servants. The Holy Spirit now dwells within believers, enabling intimate communion with God.This indwelling presence transforms believers, gradually conforming them to Christ's likeness. This new relationship provides constant guidance and ongoing transformation through personal communion with God.Through this restored relationship, believers experience the fullness of God's presence and purpose in their lives.
